But for those who are I think that trying to dance like their favorites is probably not as productive as picking a technique or a visual concept and working to develop that. Odds are your favorite dancers have this vision and if you try to be like them you will just end up one step removed from the source. This doesn't mean that you can't use them for inspiration. It just means that you should watch them and figure out what you like about them and why you like it. Then you can work towards that thing rather than trying to do them. Most likely if you focus on that thing you will end up doing it better than them. This is good advice for people who are not visual thinkers.
