So Ive been working on my technique for awhile (3-4 yrs). But top level poppers always seem to mention the "layers" in music, that there's something deeper there in the surface.
I feel like they prove this when they battle, cuz they pull off freestyle sets that seem to be choreographed exactly to the music! and im not just talkin about hitting the beats (although a lesson in rhythm would help too ;)... ), but the feel of the song, the hi's and lo's that flow into and out.
and it's so hard to tell whether the music is coming from the speakers... or the popper who's battling! but i digress....sooo
- Can anyone give me advice on how can I start "LISTENING" to music from now on, to listen DEEPER into the song and really represent it when i pop... as if my body were the instrument ?!?!?!? i know there's the clap& kick, the 8 count, being on beat (im still workin on this), but that's it!
- essentially what are some practical points to avoid shallowly listening to music on just its surface? bad habits could come out of listening to music that way once i start popping >.<
thanks !
