Dance name: Philosopop (but I don't really dance under a dance name, because I don't compete)
I've been dancing for about 9 years, but I progress slowly and steadily, and don't compete. I dance because I friggin' love it, and that's enough for me.
Crew: None - not for a lack of desire, because I'd love to have a regular group of guys to get down with, but Victoria has a pretty tiny (which means non-existant) popping community. I'm looking for other dancers though!
Bio: Got inspired when I went to my first rave in Vancouver 9 years ago, and saw a dancer named Chuck doing liquid. That was enough to get me fixated on styles of dance that revolved around isolation and visual confusion. From there I went to our local hiphop shop and picked up a Wiggles video. I haven't looked back since. Aside from two workshops I've taken, I've taught myself just from watching videos and breaking down what I've seen into the fundamentals. That means I've picked up loads of bad habits along the way, but hey, that's part of learning.

Dance Name: phunky (formerly phunkyflo)
Years Dancing: on and off for 5 years. Took 2 years of breaks in that time. School and work takes its toll.
Crew: me, myself and i. Can count on one hand how many poppers are in my city.
Bio: From the capital of Alberta (canada for those who dont live here ;-) ) Edmonton. Slowly progressed into popping from liquid dancing. I wanted to take my liquid to the next level so i started to learn how to wave. After waving, i added small hits here and there. One thing led to another and i became a full blown popper. Originally started out tutting, waving and botting. Now, still waving but also do boogaloo as my two main styles. Slowly branching off to stop and go type movements such as strobing, ticking and dimestops.
Influences: Way too many to name, but i'll list a few. People who had the biggest impact were originally the LPC crew and Nam Hyun Joon. Currently, all of the EB's new and old. Acki, legend, Sally Sly, salah, Popula. All of the pomona OG's and their sick waving.

Dance Name: dont have one really
Years Dancing: one years, couple months
Crew:I practice with a friend alot, practice with several other guys once in while.
Bio:Living in capital of Alberta also, Edmonton. Learned basics of bboying before I went into popping. Now, I basically pop all the time only. I think I wanna learn how to lock a bit though. As for my popping style, I tend to wave often and used to focus on hits. Now I focus on control and animatronics.
Influences: Nam Hyun Joon for sure got me interested in popping when I first saw him videos. Countless others followed.
and phunky, there's more popper's than you think now haha
of course, most of them are even newer than I am though.
With the popularity of America's Best Dance Crew and So You Think You Dance, a lotta people are starting to learn some form of hiphop at least.

Dance Name: Technique, Matt Boogie or just plain old Matt ..to be honest dont really have a dance name lol ..but people called me Techinque for a long time.
Years Dancing: Been into street dance for around 10 years now, however I tore my ACL boogaloo'n when I was younger which really slowed things down ..
Crew: I have never been in a dance crew.
Bio:
Back in like 1998, I started popping and the only two other people I had ever met who were doing it around here was my buddy Kevin and Greg.
I remember seeing Kevin doing body waves and hits, from there on I was obsessed lol.
It was very difficult learning how to Pop back when I started, because at the time there was almost no one into the dance. I first started at raves and eventually discovered Mr. Wiggles videos and would spend a lot of time on his website and soulseek among other things.
I never really took the dance too seriously, and unfortunately I tore my acl while dancing and it was brutal. I pretty much stopped dancing all together for a couple of years and only recently have gotten back into it. It has been quite tough relearning everything but in doing so I have re-discovered a old love in the dance called Popping.
Now im healthy and im hungry to learn, its goin take a lot of hard work but I wanna help advance the dance in any way i can.
