View Full Version : Right and wrong way of leg hitting?

I've always did my leg hits by keeping a bit of a bend in my knee and clenching the ass muscles, but apparently this is bad because it looks like im thrusting lol. Instead i was told to "snap the leg" back instead. But i always thought that can lead to hyperextension/knee damage.
So is there like a universally accepted right or wrong way or leg hitting? Personally i still prefer to clench the ass cheeks :D, just because it feels safer and the thrustings not really noticable when i hit the rest of my body

It can, so I would advise against it. People have different ways of doing leg hits and you should always pay attention to what your body is telling you, but this is how I've been doing it for a while now:
Pop/hit/clench your butt cheeks (or just one of them) _and_ your quadriceps. This will snap your leg straight, so if you bend your knees a bit, it will look like you're snapping the leg back. The difference is that by just snapping your leg back you're in practice trying to overextend it, whereas using both your butt cheecks and quadriceps you're straightening your knee more than overextending it. Also, the added muscle tension will help stabilize and balance the movement. However, I do sometimes feel that even this might not be that healthy, since I have some extra mobility in my knees, so I urge anyone doing leg hits to listen to their body and adjust their technique accordingly.
P.S. A similar effect can also be obtained by popping the knee forward a bit, and this should be quite safe as far as I know.

glad you agree, dont wanna think im the only one supporting a "wrong" technique. Might try snapping the knee forward for a while see how it works out. Thanks dude

When I began popping, I saw tutorial that the guy told not to snap back because it will hurt your knees. Snap it a little bit forward. This is how I've been doing for years and I don't even have to think about doin it, it's automatic. And it seems the same, especially if you wear "loose" pants or shorts
I am new to popping and finding that the popping the leg is related to the reaction of already engaged butt and pelvis muscles to the other leg muscles. Keep your butt and pelvis some what tense and you get a good snap. The leg wont have anywhere to go unless the core muscles are engaged...
at least this is how I understand it

I snap them forward and it looks like you are doing a full body hit because of all the force
