Whats ur crews goal? Whos in it?

if not in a crew...

If you were to create/recreate your own ideal crew, who would be in it(what type of person/dancer) and what would be your crews sole purpose?

For me, our goal would be to rep the hidden styles that alot of ppl look over these days. the crew would contain dancers with a good head (not cocky or brainwashed in the sport of funkstyles) that would have skills of originality and uniqueness.

Our purpose of the crew will be not to be the best crew out there in the world, or the next "big thing", but i would like it to be the crew that inspires both new and experienced dancers not only at contests and bboy/poppin events but anywhere, clubs, parties, etc , a crew that will go out and do original performances and routines/shows. I dont care about being paid nor getting flown out to places. I would like us to just rep the blood of uniqueness and originality and hopefully influence those who seek it.

What are you thoughts? :?:

Well I talked to my crew mate today about this, but he continues to say nothing. Luckly there is a pannel next to him that I can grab and it slides him out of my way so I can get to my clothes.

To me my ideal crew would be a mixture of different styles. This crew should have the ability to accept challenges from any crew, regardless of their style. When dealing with personality the crew as a whole has to have a passion and love about dancing, not fame or becoming infamous. Things I would love to do with a crew would be putting on shows at events. Performing choreographed routines where the whole crew plays a part. This would help promote the crew as a whole and wouldn

my ideal crew would be one that is a collective of pure individuals...fuck uniqueness but pure. uniqueness comes after that. these individuals would work together to create something more than themselves. all crews nowadays are basically just expressions of the ego and the acknowledgement that one wishes to attain from being part of a "crew". that is all subconscious underminding and in the end...it'll reciprocate back to themselves and goes nowhere. so my ideal crew would be a tool for a higher self creation in each individual within the crew, a higher purpose as a crew than just the acknowledgement as mere crew, and to set a road to those who are seeking one.

if anyone wishes for me to state anything more clearly just ask.

These names come to mind first in the time that I allowed myself to think on the subject, just to name names. That would be a dope squad to see in one circle or battle or exhibition. I would pay $$$ to see that smog session;) I

Good friends just dancing together and practicing and each one helping each other to grow further. Not to be a clone of them but to add to there style so to speak. Give each other crazy ideas to work with. hang out a lot and not just to dance. dont tell each other you have to dance like this or that but give them concepts to mix in with what they do. Ones that remember this is just for fun this isnt a job. No drama within the crew or leaders that start drama with other crews. Leadership skills are very important. If the leader sucks his crew is gonna suck. But a leader shouldnt look at it like this is my crew and have an ego about it. he just makes sure all the homies can kick it and get together and practices and do whatever. Makes sure there isnt any beef within each other. But everyones voice is the same and everyones opinions matter. Dont just do whatever so and so says if it dont seem right. Just dont let it feel like a job or a way to feed your egos. Like im in this crew blah blah blah im so fuckin cool or whatever. Dont focus on being the coolest or whatever crew in the popping mainstream. But focus more on just each others skills and training each other on a high level that you possible can. Don't hide new concepts from your crew members because you want all the fame for yourself. Thats just ego taking over. Don't tell each other something is really amazing if its not. Help them with what needs work and whats already good. Dont hate on each other if the other one can do something better because your ego has taken over. Dont worry about what so and so is doing from whatever crew and just worry about your crew only. Thats what i think will make tight crew. Cause they real close friends and are focused about eachother skills and friendship then everyone elses in the popping scene and arnt egotistical. You dont wanna be a group of aquintances. you wanna be good friends so you can give honest feedback to eachother without blowing smoke up there ass or down playing there skill level.

right on rick, i totally agree with everything you said.

The only thing i would add though is that for a crew to be motivated, they have to have things to reach for. whether that be performances or battles, they should do their best to rep whenever possible.

It's not so important that they are the best, but that they are having fun while doing it, and getting out there and sharing their talent. I would hate most of all to be in a crew that just practices their super sneaky styles in the basement. Dope as that is, what's the point.

Rick is right on though, when he says that real friendship and dropping the egos is the real foundation of a tight group.

woops i just read the title 'what is your crew's purpose and goal'

well i'm not in a crew, but i am in culture shock, which is more like a team i guess? our mission statement has always been

"We are a troupe of individuals, who through the power of music and dance, cultivate self-worth, dignity, and respect for all people."

I feel really priveleged to be a part of giving back to the community and using my love for dance to help others.
