Something you might want to add to the site is tutorials on performing basic moves and transitions in to other moves for different types of dancing (Tutting, Popping/Locking, Footwork, etc.). People that are just starting to get in to dancing might look to tutorials to learn before they get up the courage to step in to a circle and battle. With tutorials for basic moves it will help newbie dancers to learn concepts of the different styles of dancing which in turn will help promote creative thought in coming up with new moves never seen before.

Anyone up to make a tutorial?

I can see Geo making a basic tutting video tutorial with his little computer animation guy. that would be perfect! :weedman:

lets make tutorials....yo tim and soh....lets make tutoring services for the children. they will love us, just like we love them.

i think we should also add nybarius and shifted shapes to the tutorial list....they can show us soo muc more than we actually know. especially on digits and tutting. as a matter of fact, i just bought my plane ticket to new york so i can learn from them personally. nybarius is gonna teach me how to smoke crack out of foil. i can't wait!

LOL

Actually Shifted will be a good candidate since the way he dances is basically a step by step slow and one motion foundational style.

Im sure hes down to make them too, Ill look into it.

Not too fond of too much online tutorial stuff since we rather promote real life inspiration, but it is a good idea for those who dont have access to other dancers and people who are too shy to ask questions.

would assume begginers would like:

1. Basic Arm wave/ Body Wave tutorials
2. How to hit tutorial
3. How to do foundation Tuts and Boxes
4. How to side glide/ back slide / float

Geo, are you able to make a foundational boxing/tutting tutorial with your 3-d skills?

wasn't sure if you were serious or joking. ok. so seriousness now? i'm down if you need me. but for basics many people can teach them.

This site is missing people. Not enough people are on here. Ill put out music just give me a place to upload/host it and ill drop something once a month of a cd of some hard tracks.

As Far As Tutorials.

Tabo would do it in a heart beat. He loves to teach waving basics more then anything. Id say 90% of us under 30 in california have learned something from him. I've asked him before if he ever wanted to make a Tutorial video of waves and he told me he did.

Tetris get at tabo and film him teaching some basic stuff. He would love to do it more then anything.

lol yea hes a SERIOUS anime guru.

its just like how jiraiya and master roshi are old perverts who love to drink and chill, but secretly are very powerful.

Tabos the same.. hes just a dude who drinks beer and eats jerky at the popping events but can do some crazy ish.

i am so glad to have a mentor like Tabo HAIII~~!! ^_^

WCP,

I, and I think others, have experienced the frustrating "times up" feature when posting a long message and then we either have to type it faster next time or just say "screw it, it wasn't meant to be" (which is what I usually say)

Can you disable that feature or adjust it for a longer time?

Peace \ /

I'm with Konfusion,

We've got the start of a really good foundation (whoa, parallels to dancing?) for a great site here, but we need more people. I caught wind of the site from itstitoitstito, and I think word of mouth like that is probably the way we're going to build on our community.

Articles like spacecapital's awesome bit on transitions are a really great draw to get more people coming over here, and so are good video links of dancer's that aren't necessarily well known outside of the local community (it might just be my ignorance, but I'd never heard of dnoi before I joined up, but now that I've seen him dance, I have no idea how it was possible that I hadn't seen him groove before). Although YouTube and Google Videos have made it a lot more difficult to host exclusive content, we can set ourselves up to provide new dancers with the best resources from those sites. Anyone can search YouTube for a popping tutorial, but will have to wade through a bunch of noise before they get the signal they're actually looking for. The popping/locking tutorial videos section on this site is a great way to index all of the best videos, so if anyone sees something that really sticks with them, post it up!

I guess the most important thing that I think we keep is a vibe that promotes open-mindedness about dancing, and acceptance - all the posts I've read so far have been along those lines, and that's really good. New dancers don't want to walk into a room full of sharks, ask a question about dancing, and get ripped to piece by self-proclaimed OG's that have forgotten how they started dancing - we're doing a great job keeping things real here, so I guess this is really just props to everyone currently posting.

Everyone make sure you tell all of your dancing buddies to get out here and post thoughts, videos, comments, and opinions, and I think we're on the right track to building a strong community!

Word,

--Adam
