was it just me or did anybody else NOT feel it?

im not sure if the music was dubbed but it seemed like plock was way off beat on that first song. maybe cause its a song that bboys break to?

makes me realize that maybe plock isnt on point with ALL music, he just memorizes the tracks...i dunno it kinda makes me respect him less :(

but to the those songs he knows..man the dude totally rips it!!!

Yeah... the only one I was really feeling was Khan in his second round. I think the sound synching was off by a lil' bit though...

P-Lock has alot of strengths as a locker (hard stops, clean angles, funk, musicality, big blow-ups/tricks), but he's definitely got his weaknesses (too much reliance on tricks, not very clean technique, shortened execution of certain moves). However, I think that he did "ok" in this clip, but the music selection was kind of weak. Also, I was a bit disappointed in Woong's performance.

But as to P-lock's musicality: I think that he has good musicality. He did freak some beats. But yeah, he didn't do quite as much during his first round (but I thought the first song was completely booty... bad selection...) so he might not have been feeling it.

I don't know if it's so much a case of "P-lock can only rock it on tracks that he knows"--he might just not have been feeling it. I know I wasn't...

This is the third goddamn post I'm going to try to stick in this thread, this is really pissing me off.

Anyways, this is the second battle between the French and these particular members of Originality Korea, the first being the FINALS! of Juste Debout 2005, where Originality beat PLock and JSoul.

I'm not going to try to break it down again because I don't want the message sender to flip out on me, but to me, Woong's first round is FIRE... nutty direction change at -5:11, amazing legwork and solid upper body technique...

Khan is crazy, as well.... I love watching the Koreans more than I like watching the French, easily...

there are people who think its wack to dance to the same songs...

if they're not good dancers tho... even if they have memorized the song... they still and will not be able to present what the song does to em soul u feel me?

we all have listened to some songs one point or another ...primarily its fair...whats really not fair tho.. is someone hear more songs than the others...so that they can be better off when a jam played a not so common song? dont get me wrong i kno someone really deep in love with certain genre so they dig in deep..i have much respect for that..but what im sayin is if there's someone pursposedly listenin to variety of songs? purposedly collecting variety of songs so they can scored high in SAT? and even memorize it? or someone distributed songs and their students who took their classes can hear em first hands? thats what make it really not so fair....

disclamers: of cos im just sayin and tryin to make people view things in a better way...whats fair and whats not fair...not necessarily sayin the cases existed

when ur fav jam played...ure bout to get down and still be able to present how fonded u are whenever u listen to the song......

everytime it came on...ure on...cus that exactly what music does...it turns u on...

its OK that u dislike funk...or any other genres...but i believe...there's gotta be songs that u feel or do not feel
\ if someone told me they like everything...or they just listen to everything..so when a jam play a country song..they still be able to rip it...that makes em a good dancers?? that makes no sense to me

if ur taste of music is broad...cool ...its an advantage id say...

but when it all comes down to it... we dont need advantage.... cus dancing shouldnt be about scoring high in SAT.... its about enjoy what u do...and enjoy what u listen to.... feel good and look good

What Tito talks about is precisely why I don't have that great of esteem for P.Lock. The guy is first and foremost a performer. He's not a bad locker, but all of his fire comes from being a great great performer and being able to captivate the crowd with his highflying tricks and musicality (if he knows the song). But he does lose the beat a lot, watch the footage from Juste Debout, and very rarely if ever do I get a "dancing" vibe from him as opposed to getting a "performing" vibe.

I'm going to light a little fire here :D

I think that dancing, first and foremost is a PERFORMANCE, and as dancers it is our first duty to perform. You could be the best dancer in the world, and if you're not a good performer, then no one will watch you dance. You have failed to enthuse your audience, and thus you have failed as a dancer as well. In the end it IS about soul, musicality, and performance. Ultimately, very little about technique. Your technique can add or detract from your performance, but ultimately your goal is to convey what you're feeling from the music to your viewer.

I agree with Dennis.

However, I think that, except in rare cases, blistering, mind-blowing technique usually does only exist in great performers... If someone has that good of technique, then it's only natural that when they use it, it will completely blow away whoever is watching them... even if they're not saying,"HEY!! LOOK AT ME NOW!!!" with their demeanor...

But still, Dennis is right: dancing is primarily performance... unless you're only dancing for yourself... in your room... with the lights out... and your eyes closed... naked... (well, ok, maybe not that last one...)

But I understand what Kaistar is saying. If you're off beat, then something is wrong with your dance technique. This in turn makes your performance not so good.

Anyway, I dunno if I'm feeling the Korean lockers. I mean, I see them do some cool stuff, but it never just "Whoooooooooaaaaaa!" blows me away... maybe I'm watching the wrong videos...
