Bottin:
Be patient, even though the song is fast you can move slow. Sit there perfectly still.
1)Practice moving ONE THING AT A TIME, as soon as that one piece stops, start a new movement. Get that timing down.
2)Practice moving two things at a time now, same idea, dont start new movements before completing and stopping the first one.
3)Practice isolating smaller pieces of your body, like your wrists (wrist rolls) your arms look too "karate chop" style.
4)Dont overdue the speed control thing..I know its fun, but it looses its effect when overused. Instead save it for an accent in the music...Keep it simple for the most part.
Watch Robert Shields, as he told me, you have to COMMIT to the character, a "Robot trying to be human"....when you do that...you will blank out, lose all concept of time, keep your body limited to the movements of a robot. If you lose concept of time, you will be able to stay in character for a whole solo....60 seconds seems like a long time to be completely in Robot if you are thinking about it.
you will have the urge to start dancing faster or change style, before ever creating the visual rhythm needed to create the character. Stay in it longer.
Study Shields more than anyone else....everyone else is a copy of him. Dont be a copy of a copy, copy the original master and then put your own twist to it.
