i don't see it as a rebirth...its a slight modification (3g) which has nothing to do with the phone.

apple can burn in the fire pits of that place that is warm...the fire place, throw your apple products in the fire place. its an apple that got bitten into, forbidden fruit, the DEVIL. put it down and walk away. don't do it, don't do it!

The phone was improved, but the monthly price is going to be killer, the data plan has been raised about 20-30$ so you're looking at about 80-90$ a month. On top of that, if you don't get the two year contract the phone itself will cost about 500-600. The phone has been improved but not enough for what its going to cost.

Once i heard about the plan going higher, it was sketchy about it. This is how they gna make their money, the long run pays off.

Just buy a cheap phone, they are all good enough to get the job done. You don't need all the extra bullshit, it's a miracle we all survived the 80's and 90's without a cell phone lol.

NEW YORK - The launch of Apple Inc.'s much-anticipated new iPhone turned into an information-technology meltdown on Friday, as customers were unable to get their phones working.
"It's such grief and aggravation," said Frederick Smalls, an insurance broker in Whitman, Mass., after spending two hours on the phone with Apple (http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/ap/ap_on_hi_te/storytext/apple_iphone/28201538/SIG=10n5r6sdv/*http://www.apple.com/) and AT&T Inc., trying to get his new iPhone to work.
In stores, people waited at counters to get the phones activated, as lines built behind them. Many of the customers had already camped out for several hours in line to become among the first with the new phone, which updates the one launched a year ago by speeding up Internet access and adding a navigation chip.
A spokesman for AT&T, the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in the U.S., said there was a global problem with Apple's iTunes servers that prevented the phones from being fully activated in-store, as had been planned.
Instead, employees are telling buyers to go home and perform the last step by connecting their phones to their own computers, spokesman Michael Coe said.
However, the iTunes (http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/ap/ap_on_hi_te/storytext/apple_iphone/28201538/SIG=10uu8lari/*http://www.apple.com/itunes/) servers were equally hard to reach from home, leaving the phones unusable except for emergency calls.
The problem extended to owners of the previous iPhone model. A software update released for that phone on Friday morning required the phone to be reactivated through iTunes.
"It's a mess," said freelance photographer Giovanni Cipriano, who updated his first-generation iPhone only to find it unusable.

Anyone with the 3G iphone in LA... tell if the 3G actually works.

I have a 3G capable phone. and guess what?
It still runs on edge network out here.
But in Nashville tennessee and boston and other boonies cities, it works perfectly.

If that's the case, people with 3G iphones in LA just might not GET 3G.

i have the iphone 3g work like a charm for me
internet,email ,IM, trading,music,games.youtube
the only thing i dont like about the phone is it has too many restriction
they should let us watch videos other than youtube..and let us install our own softwares and download music(there's way to go around it tho, which is to jailbreak the phone,,i ddint bother doing it)

overall im one satisfied customer and believe it or not before i own the phone i had a strong bias against it

personally, its not worth the money to have an iphone 3g unless your and uber geekizoid or high-powered important suit/tie-man that NEEDS to be connected 24/7 with internet and email.

besides, it dont have enough memory for me...i carry my tunes and movies (and no it isnt pr0n) with me everywhere on my brand NEW swankidelic ipod classic 120gb...

I do the same, keep everything on my 80Gig ipod video and two 128Gig WD passport hd's. I just carry around a cheap Samsung phone. Spent my money on an AMD quad core, 8Gigs RAM, and a Radion HD 4850 512 card instead:p
