View Full Version : Blow Ups (Technically)

Recently i've been wondering if i should plan the techniques or movements i
use for my blow ups while i practice..
Until now i've only done improvised blow ups, but im finding that theyre not very effective and don't show enough contrast.

I dont mean like.. listening to a song and being like 'im gonna do this, this and this.'.. i mean planning the movements at home (or whenever) and adapting them to the music..

Do people do this or are all blow ups improvised? If so, what helps you make good blow ups..?

I don't really do blow ups that much. But if I develop something really cool, I'll just know I want to use it in a set. THen during the set you freestyle into it and freestyle out of it and dance your blowup. Thats a good way of doin it.

Ya, practice your blowups... perfect them, and then work them into your dancing.

Cool, thanks Invent.
I sorta just wanted to know if it's cool to make them before, or if that wasn't as real in some way :S

Can you really say teaching is better than practise? While i agree teaching is the best way to learn (i got into a lotta trouble for pushing on that), practise is essential too.. You can know what you need to do, but you wont go anywhere without practice.

Ok.
I never said teaching was better than practise, only that your not LEARNING when you practice. Practise is repetition to gain skill. Of course you need that to improve in anything, but you dont learn when you practise! ><. As opposed to teaching someone, where when you are showing/explaining an idea, it has to go through your head, this makes you consider whether your doing it right or not, if not you've learnt something.

Fine. I conceed that teaching neccessarily the BEST way to learn, but its up there. People can't always be there to tell you you aren't doing it right.

Lay, im done with this. I have nothing against you, what you think of me is up to you.

hahaha dam wtf yall lost me with this thread honestly,

but yeah blows or technical tricks i think need to be practiced to make them clean and to make them a part of your dance so that when you pull them out in a battle or wherever it flows with your dance, blow ups are good but better on beat imo ....

Get off his nuts asshat

Teach- concept
Practice- EXECUTING concept

I don't care how cool your ideas are, if you can't execute, you suck, game over. Vica versa if you practice but don't have any concepts... you've got nothing to show. They're related and both are necessary so stfu already.

You got a problem with discussing ideas or something? Or your dick just small so you feel the need to put people down on the net where sticks and stones can't hurt you?

HMM you understand now? Hey asshole, how about not editing your post after being shown your own ignorance? How about being a man and apologizing for your mistake instead?I just reposted your ORIGINAL post right under the "hmm i understand"

So you hypocritical, ignorant buffoon anything else you want to add?

My point: Don't diss people for nothing- ESPECIALLY not for trying to learn something. That and dawg, you talk about creativity and throw the asshat insult back at me. Be a dear and come up with your own insult retard

Yovi- I'm new around here so I don't know who he is, if he's some trol, clown or whatever- I just got pissed off at that ignorant bullshit. Nobody should have to feel bad for asking a question

Saw that coming from a mile away

You. Suck. At. Sarcasm. But you're a master at pulling out excuses for your faults and a pussy for not being able to learn from them

Funny how you couldn't even address the edit you made on your post. HMM YOU UNDERSTAND, yadadamean?

If you got beef with Yovi, take that shit up with him face to face. Or address him face to face. Don't create a negative atmosphere by scaring people off of asking questions. You posted in Franticks thread (when he asked everyone other than op to stay out), so I'm guessing you read it too. Take a lesson from that: address your beef dont beat around the bush.

by the way, you didnt explain shit. I just pointed out a major contradiction in your posts, quoted your posts and showed the EDIT you made in your post that reflects your "change of heart". Whats to address? More like you tried to slither out of the hot seat, coward.

haha it is I guess. Little joker like you has nothing left so all you can do is laugh on the outside and feel like shit on the inside.

On a positive note, redemption is an apology away. man up son.

Like I said, you don't need to know the details in which why I edited 'my' posts. Guess I missed the bit when Frantic told people not to butt in.

Contradictions? No. Sarcasm? Yes.

I don't like to start ish so I suggest you stop.

From what I said above it could give you a little clue as to what I'm talking about. If you don't get it, you don't deserve to know.

I've had enough of you. Rant away.

No, I don't have to rant, you've given me all the ammo I need. Just had to make sure I got your posts saved up here so that anyone who would be put off by your sour attitude knows you're a douche.

I don't care what your reasons were.

The contradiction was pretty clear. First you say teach. Then you say practice.

Keep suggesting. I'll stomp on bullshit when I see it, I'm not looking for your approval. if this is some inside joke between guys who know each other, w/e i'm ranting about nothing. Otherwise, you're just ignorant.

Look monkey fucks. I didnt even read everything here. But i have to say this:

its best to practice AND teach. Practice helps you get your technique better. Teaching helps you understand your technique that you are trying to improve.

Dont make me temp ban all you clowns. Keep it on topic. If you got problems with someone its called a PM.

If everyone listened to some funky music, no1 would be angry :)

Blow ups/ Tricks, are only good if they are to the music, try not to do too many blow ups, thats the mistake salah usually makes (still a great popper) I'm going to dis-agree with most people here and say dont practise or teach it, simply because the more you do something specifically, the more bored you will feel doing it, with blow ups, its very hard for you to forget them, im sure your not going to be thinkin "oo shit i forgot what i was supposed to do" you shouldnt be thinking in the first place, it should be your instincts telling you what to do,

hope this helps

peace :)

I love blow ups and those who are able to execute them to the music, with feeling, and wtih freestyle, will def own the cypher/battle.

In any performances, movies, music, etc there is always an intro, climax, and an ending. A blow up in my opinion is the climax of your round/set. If you are against blow ups, why?

If you can freestyle your ass off, kill the music with feeling, and have a dope blow up or move, you are busting the full potential of an incredible round. Why hold back and limit your self?

I beleive if you add execution and blow up on a high level (on top of your musicality/feeling, freestyle, and technique), you can pretty much own every aspect of your round. Please the dancers with musicality and feeling, but also give the rest of the people an exciting round where you can control the crowd with your blow up/power move.

Thats just the icing on the cake, perfect your skill from all angles and dont hold back.
