Hey guys, I'm new here. I started attempts to pop and lock a year ago, and I've gotten considerably better but not anywhere close to where I want to be. Anyway one move I've been trying to for a while now is Phillip Chbeeb's crazy hand/arm wave. Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtkToX8pIHk
the move is around the 24 second mark.
Is there any special way to practice this?>

Welcome to the forums... what you're looking to learn is a wave which falls under the category of "poppin" and not "lockin". Cheers!

Phillip works with intricate arm (mostly hand) waves.
First of all, you have to keep repeating your hand wave - fingers, joint thingy, knuckle, wrist. get used to that movement. Learn to reverse it and smooth it out. For example, one of Pacman's most famous moves is the one at around 25 seconds... that is basically hand waves, one is going in the right direction and the other is reverse, vice/versa. He also includes footwork to increase illusion. Break down the moves (as said by Hidden) and it won't be so hard to follow.
Good luck.
Oh and another thing... remember to stay original, don't be a biter. Of course it will take time to learn. Popping is very diverse. Imagine how many hours of practice Pacman must've put in to come up with these moves and master them. Work on your basics and keep at it.

haha, there was an EXACT same thread on this on bboy.org about a year ago. aaaahh nostaligia.
Anyways, the main types a waves pacman does are ripple waves.
1. learn to ripple wave forward and backwards with one hand and then try with the other hand. (seperately).
2. hold both arms out and then ripple them both together forward and then back.
3. Now try ripple waving one hand forward and one back. Start slow.
4. Now try variations with it, flip it, change that shit, make it fresh.
Its like rubbing your stomach and head at the same time. You just have to feel comfortable with it, and of course practice makes Kurry.
