I just reformatted my hard drive with a hacked version of XP a homie gave me.

Now the computer updated itself and it's it giving me some bowl shit about "You may be a victim of system counterfeiting," blah blah blah. And then there's this watermark on my desktop that won't go away saying the same shiet.

As I look at it now, I don't think I'll be able to get rid of it unless I click the links and download that bizz.

So some questions:

Anyway to get around this and get rid of that stuff?

What are the chances I get in trouble for this? I mean I did have xp, but I lost the recovery disk.

I wouldnt trip, I wus rocking a pirated xp on my last rig because of the same reason as you. Most companies involving pirated software do not trip on individual licenses only corprate. Do wut tito said and turn off ur auto updates (if your xp they should be turned off anyways as there are no more major updates being released for xp) and check microsofts site to get the skinny on what update you are installing before you install it.

Cally, I'll ask some friends in the CompSci department to hook you up if you need a new copy of XP.

When are you free, I need popping lessons :(
