What i mean is, when a person is poppin, alot of the moves they do are not made up on the spot. They are moves they have practiced before, just in a random order and tweaked to fit into their freestyle.

What i am asking is, how much of a poppin freestyle is actually moves made up on the spot and how much are moves that are practiced?

I believe a freestyle is made up of 70% of practiced moves, I.E. a specific ground move or a particular arm wave, and 30% of moves made up on the spot. I believe this way because, for me anyway, It is dangerous to do a totally random move because it could, for 1, be sloppy, and 2, throw you off.

I know it varies from person to person, but what do you guys believe a freestyle is and how much of a freestyle do you guys think should be moves you have practiced before and how much should be moves made up on the spot?

Freestyle is expression to musik...its being free...in YOUR mind. Its not doing a routine to the music, but letting mouvements come out of you to match the music...it could be rehearsed movements...or spontaneous. It DOESN'T matter, freestyle is a mindset, and maybe even a way of life. At least thats my definition. PEACE.

Hmm i agree its sets of moves u know mixed and matched and thrown together ,hopefully with some musicality, and then some on the spot transitions = freestyle

to me i think it depends on what particular technique you excel (did i spell that right?) at. For me when im popping i usually just do moves im used to. Which i guess means i have practiced before. For things like Tutting though i do a little bit of both or variations of what i practices. Plus a lot of the moves you do naturally without even realizing. If you want to get better at just making moves out of thin air i guess you should try no to practic ein the mirror (if you do).
