I know how to pop my legs and arms. But i have a real difficult time trying to pop my neck and chest. As for my head, i just tilt it to the side and give a little nod. So basically, I dont feel a powerful pop. How can i improve this?
Can someone please explain chest popping, and is it necessary?

just try to focus on flexing your pecs and abs. then try to touch your neck and feel the muscles you want to focus on flexing, it took me a few weeks to get them all to synchronize but use a mirror and hold your hand to one side of your head and push your head against it to feel which muscles you want to utilize. other than that..yeah i dont know lol. just practice flexing. and yes its important because it gives more of an effect when you use your neck and chest ; )
if u just keep pumpin ur chest in n out in a quick flexing manner, its gona look real dumb , feel wierd, and awekward...
but keep doin it and doin it, eventualy ull start feelin it the right way, and ull develop a sense for this tiny muscle above ur abbs and below ur pecs, (not sure wat its called), but yea i use this tiny muscles to help me hit my chest...it gives a very sharp, crispy, but strong feel too. It just takes practice n gettin ur mind used to knowing and feeling ur muscles in ur body u didnt kno u had ;]

Power Pops!
heres what works for me, please do not try this at home without adult supervision.
CHEST
The chest is located between the neck system and the abdomen system. Take a deep breathe, your chest rises naturally. To push the chest further up arch your spine so that your lower vertabrae push forward and your upper vertabrae pull back. Use the neck muscles to push down, in the opposite direction. To achieve the pop, you flex any muscles you need to hit.
NECK
There are 4 major neck muscles here, 2 in front of the throat and 2 in the back of the skull. I can flex all 4 muscles it a static position. However, the neck's biological function is to allow the head movement from the torso. Hence, this is why it feels natural to move the head then hit the neck, since it is in motion. Try focusing on the position of your chin. By moving your chin, you move the whole head and hence the neck as well.
once you change posistions of the chin, hit what you can. over time you will develop neck muscle control. If you find your chin keep flying forward, try tucking it down and/or pulling it back towards the neck.

u dont need to hit ur neck or anywhere intentionally..just hit it..
and they will come in time..and ur strength will show at certain area...
e.g. jet li tetris good triceps hitting..onion good ass hitting..tim chadd good abs overall hitting...kidboogie good legs hitting....legend good chest hitting etc..
like i could tell where the hits mainly come from and it shows individuality..
(half jokin new thought not necessarily right just my 2 cents)

If you try to pop your chest you won't be able to, you will tense your abs instead.
The trick to popping your chest lies in the fact that your chest is directly linked to your triceps.
Don't try to pop your chest, pop your triceps instead.
This is also the secreat to the male body builder's titty jumping dancing. Same technique. Tense your tricepts.
Look at yourself in the mirror naked and if you have pecs you should notice you titties bouncing.
As for neck, just keep practising. I pop my neck but it really isn't that important. No secret to neck popping.

an "indirect" (just like snapping ur leg back to tense ur calf muscle) way of tensing ur neck is to say "ERGH!", the louder u say it the harder the muscle tenses

Actually, there's several different ways you can work on your chest and neck/head hits...
First off: There's actually two different muscle groups involved in the hitting of your torso muscles-your pectoralis major (your "pecs" or the actual muscles that make up the "booby" part of your chest). And then directly below the pectoralis major, is the diaphragm (that's the muscle that Lobo called "the little muscle right below your chest")
Hitting your pecs involves a tensing of only your pec muscles. Usually this is easier if your pecs are somewhat developed through exercise or weightlifting. To tense your pecs, just squeeze your chest (boobies) together.
Now, hitting your pecs only gives you a small hit. Hitting your diaphragm however is what gives you the frame-shaking hit that some people call a bop. To hit your diaphragm, all you have to do is inhale sharply (as if you've got the hiccups). As snale said, you should feel your chest rise and go out a little when you tense your diaphragm. Your chest should then lower when you relax your diaphragm.
As for hitting your head and neck, the best way I've found is to practice the "little nod" method. If you actually practice straining your neck muscles (as if you're grimmacing or making an angry face), you'll probably only strain your neck muscles and won't get that big of a hit as a result (believe me; I've tried).
However, the "little nod" (nodding your head shortly and sharply, like you're saying "yes") method actually develops into a nice little hit if you just keep doing it repeatedly. It takes a while to develop, but once you get it right, it works nicely. You can use it in almost any head position too (up, down, to the side, etc.)
anyway, hope that helps a little bit... In addition, try segmenting your hits (head, chest, diaphragm, glutes (or butt), then legs). I know Taco does this and that's how he does some of his waves (by isolating each hit while the wave is going through his body...)
well, good luck!

wow i thought popping was just legs and arms. but it seems you have to hit every section of ur body to get a good pop. thanks for all the help guys! never knew about the diaphragm.
gotta start practicing. school dance on friday. thx again!

lol "Boobies"
Hey the nod thing works... combine that with the "ERGH" and u get a stronger tense

I wouldn't agree with that. You may have tried and failed but others have tried and succeded. I've always used the straining nexk method witha tiny nod.
I agree with Danis though, Nod + nexk strain gives a powerful hit

I also use the nod method. Another one that's kind of similar is using the snapping method. Where you snap your neck back or forward or to the side and then flexing your neck muscles. The sudden stop makes your cheeks shake a bit and makes it look nice and crisp 8) All it takes is practice with the neck muscles. Start trying now and down the road you'll notice you can start hitting your neck without a snap or a nod.

can someone elaborate more on the frame shaking hit?
Haha damn this is a good thread, everyone is just about droppin bombs ;]
For sum reason whenever I see sum1 with a really nice, sharp, crispy hit: i see it as an advanced trait and them being an advanced popper: its jsut sumthin that really appeals to me :D

Just hit with whatever feels the best, try all the variations and whatnots. Just hit for hours on end till you go numb. *HIT* *HIT* ....... *HIT*. Hit's really do come over time, so just practice till then.

you know in that korean hitting tutorial where that guy in the black tank is hitting all the places.
how are you supposed to hit the part near the armpits?
it seems that's the key place where the frame shaking hit comes from.

i could easily be wrong, but my theory is that the frame shakin effect does not come from location of the hit (does not matter where the power of your hits come from)..
but is an illusion thats achieved by showing the biggest contrast between relaxed/motionless state to intensely tensed/contracted, and back again to relaxed.
the 0->100->0 power is what makes the hit really stand out, along with syncronicity of the muscles. most people have different places they hit from to get the most power, and its usually obvious they are hitting from that area - chest, arms, legs, head, etc. but if you can synchronize all the muslce groups at the exact same time, its hard to tell where the power of the hit is coming from. combined with focusing on clearly showing the difference between completed relaxed to 1000% tensed POP and back to completed relaxed as quickly as possible helps the illusion of a big effect (hit) even if its not that hard.

That part is your pecs i think, which comes from your tricepts.
Also i disagree, i believe most of your power comes from your hamstrings and ass mucsles. Which also makes sense since that is your largest muscle in your body.
