What message does street dancing carry in 2007?
This dance form is artistic and refined, with an equalled diversity to match music production or fine painting.
Art fascinates interest for a few reasons. First, artists like Vincente Van Gogh, are most historic for rebelling against tradition.
Although they were hated by most art communities at the time, his underground ideas became famous pieces of work after his death.
His message was rebellion against what had been fixed for quite some time. His message was to show that classical painting
captures realism, it is by no means a limitation and exclusion to other schools of thought. How could a style so perfect as realism have
any rivals at all?
Art, in politics, can carry huge messages about economies, goverments and national opinion. Through satire, art can illustrate
implicit life issues explicitly.
Even Leonardo Da Vinci drew strange machines and pictures which decades later became reality, the blueprints for cutting
edge technology and aircraft. At the time, his body snatching behavior was questioned highly.
You can have the paints and canvas, but that doesnt mean that they will produce the latest masterpiece.
You can have all the rolls, tuts, waves (etc) and music, but that doesn't mean you've innovated.
What is the essence of this dance today?
Art and philosophy have always gone hand and hand. Poets and underground hip hop mc's combine philosophy and melody
to create strong messages of life, relationships, death and much more.
What philosophy or body of wisdom is held in this dance today and how does that knowledge effect the dancer?
To me, this art form is and can be the world's next masterpiece, the latest innovation of art. Not through participation alone, but
thru innovation as well.
I have been loving this dance since the 80's when it first captured my eye. Since then, I think about it almost everyday.
To me there is a much deeper meaning and philosophy than just learning moves and claiming title. Its more than a trend
and is tended to as such.
