Also, just more questions about who he saw doing it, who inspired him. Does he see himself as someone who did something "new", or does he consider himself to just be keeping a tradition alive?

it is not possible to hit every angle clean.hit it and move on mybe thats the clean one
practice being smoove with it NOTE: there are some people that can do something with there arms that you cant Dubble jounted people seem to have nice angels but that dont make you a better tuter.yes you can look good with some sloppy angels but you should be getting better along the way.(I said some)

Who were you influenced by when it comes to Popping?

Bopping Andre, Triplet, Jack and Charlie the Samoan twins from Blue City
Strutter's, Taco, Mark Benson (King TUT) from Long Beach.

started poppin and boogalooing in 1975/76 created the king tut style in 1976/77
How did you come up with the style.........came up with the king tut style trying to inpress boogaloo sam.he already had a popper( poppin pete),backsider(creppin sid), puppet ( puppet boozer),robot( robot dane),scarecrow (scarecrow scally),and himself as the boogaloo I needed something new something to go along with what he was doing.

In the 60s we lost Dr.king/JFK/Malcolm X.by the 70s black people were coming into there own as a people. I was torn between being a panther and a musilm all I know is that they both were saying the same thing. How we were kings and Queens in Africa and how we were brought here to USA against are will. So the way I was thinking at that time as a little boy 14/15 years old is that I was always a king. So when it came time to pick a name for myself. In my mind I was already a boy king so king tut was easy to pick. The style and the name were as one The hieroglyphics grve 8 bassic posses and I added my oun in between my 1978 I was so well known I could get into clubs free and I changed from the truditional poppin outfets (the jackets with your names on them)to my arabian and egyptian outfets with turban and curly pointed shoes girls feeding me grapes and all.by 1979 king boogaloo tut had gone Hollywood mostly in my mind by the 1980s good tutters started poppin up but as good as they were I has years of tutting on them .So I was always a tut ahead.


Q.Who were your influences?
I was influence by all those OGs that kept it real. If you came to long beach to try to make a name for yourself but lost the battle them go run back to yo home town and tell everybody you won.

I have never lost and siad I won (win some lose some but keep it real)sometimes we dont know the influences we have on ethers.

I remeber one day the EBs were telling everybody about this guy skeleton and how they had just turned him out and make a fool out of him.So I got this great idea to go turn skeleton out like the EBs did and this way Ill get them to notice me.SO I HUNTED SKELETON DOWN. and when I found him It was on. so I thought; this dude was so off the MF hook It was no way they could have bet him not for what im seeing.Danm did the EBs lie to me.did they run back to long beach and tell everybody they won when they didnt I dont know. But what I do know is I done hunted this guy down and he is kidin my ass.and when it was all over I ask the ultimate Question to my friend and dance partner poppin Dave(who won ?) and he siad it was a tie NOTE TO THE NEW SKOOL:if yo friend tells you it was a tie you lost.but I didnt run back to long beach telling everybody I won

Train under anyone! I was alway the teacher. whale I guess Everynight at the club in the battles was training day I never new who my training partner was going to be each night lol
At my momas house 1465 gundry (my daily training)poppin dave,Robert brown,poppin taco, boogaloo shrimp,camellock jones,diane from wimmington,ect.ect I could list them all day if they came to me I would never say no.You see back in the days everyone was biten off one anther and this couse a lot of dancers not to do anything infront of someone that they new was a dancer.As a teacher if your biten that means you are hungry and if your hungry im going to feed you I had to problem gettin down anywere
