hey guys, here's a list of most of the foundations i know, hopefully i can get more experienced dancers to help me out with the list

let me know if you know some that are not on the list and i will add them

here are two great videos with a bunch of popping and boogaloo foundations:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tc6BTBtBz1k&feature=related

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAcF-fTeFmM

Popping Foundations
- hitting
- fresno
- angles
- walk out
- air posing
- dimestopping
- saccing
- lift
- twist-o-flex, master flex, neck-o-flex
- egytian twist, romeo twist
- crazy legs
- strobing
- ticking
- pop and go
- scarecrow, puppit, toyman and shadowboxing styles

Boogaloo Foundations
- old man (with and without roll)
- rolls (head, chest, shoulders, waist, knees, ankles)

Botting Foundations
- dimestopping
- isolations (ribcage, neck, waist, shoulders, and other joints)
**also try to break down the movements you can do with a joint. for example, the neck and ribcage can push, tilt and twist.

Good source of botting vids:

Waving Foundations
- arm waves, body waves, hand waves/fluid
**3 ways to do arm waves: up/down, left/right, and twist/circle
**4 ways to do body waves: front, back, side, and twist
- tidal waves vs isolated waves (both must be very clean)
- snaking/cobra

Tutting Foundations (don't know about this)
- infini-tut
- box-tut

Glides and other footwork
- moon walk
- back glide
- side glide
- the wiggle walk
- heel-toe variations

Some Concepts to think about
- levels (get both low and up)
- speed changes (slo mo and fast mo)
- upper body weight transfer (keep weight on both legs most of the time)
- rotations, twists and other 3D effects (dance as if mirrors are all around you)
- cause and effect (one movement causes another)

important tip: you must constantly dance with your whole body, don't ever forget about this arm or that leg or your head (looking down). keep your whole body engaged in the music.

*watch videos of pros and you will be able to develop concepts in your own words*

amazing tutorials on how to really develop your hitting muscles...if you can get past the lack of english

no you need a smaller list. try to look at all of these various "foundations" that you have mentioned and determine the common techniques that they employ. Then work on developing these deeper foundations.

Didn't know the running man and C-walking had any connection, lol

course they do, its footwork
you can take hip-hop and c-walking and turn it into some popping moves

and i will take that in mind shifted

Hi man, good thread you've done here !
I would like to mention that ticking isn't dimestopping ! There is a difference between both, because, in my opinion, ticking is the fact of hitting twice, really sharply. Dimestopping is more like completely stopping to move. BTW, your list seems to cover the most important foundations, good job dude :p

Most of your "popping foundations" are boogaloo moves. And robot foundation is just dimestopping and isolation. There's also no such thing as "newstyle foundations". Lastly, you forgot the most important foundation.....HITTING!

thanks riaz! i forget the most obvious things sometimes :)
and tchikapop i think ticking is like dimestopping over and over again, but i will seperate the two anyways

far as i know, dimestopping is just moving fast and just stopping instantly to a beat while tickng is hitting every half beat while moving.

Ticking is hitting in small intervals.

Thanks a bunch, I've been looking for something like this.

What'd help even more is if you posted links to tutorials next to the moves :X
