I've seen a few house video clips on youtube that show people stepping backwards (as opposed to stepping forward) when doing the "Chase". Is this just a stylistic thing or a regional thing? The rest I can almost follow with the exception of thr foot roll. It looks like some kind of heel toe thing. JackDaniels has done it a few times. Maybe it is just a heel roll.
Hum well the front foot is stepping forward toe, then back foot turns totally toes to the back and goes BACK. Then the front foot that you touch the toes with orginially goes down to the heel as you touch the heel the the ground the front leg sits down in the heel its kinda hard to explain you need to get it broken down in front of you. Its hard to explain things like step 1, 2, 3, because theres more then one thing gong on at one time. Including foot positioning and body movement but its harder then the loose leg which is just feet. Good luck it takes practice and more practice then when you think you got a decently you realize you can clean up even more. theres always more.

I would say "Okay, can you show me when Kaskade plays at Remedy at the end of this month.", but I'm not too sure if I'm going to make it down there. The one guy that is giving me a ride told me "I promise there won't be anything that involves fights and guns on our way to the club." In other words, I'm once again going to have the cops asking me "Why are you haning out with these types of people." Good times.
HAHA im sorry dude are you saying your homie is a gangsta that likes to start fights and shoot guns but is into Kaskade?? the same happy soft house playing mormon Kaskade? I never knew a gangsta that was into Kaskade that's pretty funny!! Well I hope you make it to SF SAFELY
safe journeys my friend

Last time me and my friend were mugged by a few people in Oakland. The one mugger had a knife. Anyhow, my friend goes "Don't hurt us. We'll give you all the money we have." He then reaches into his pocket, pulls out a .45, cocks the gun and goes "break yourself." I think that was the line. I dunno. The entire thing was blur. I think I aged about 10 years from that incident.
Anyhow, after the incident I said "I thought you said you were done with your gang banging days." He just said "I am. I think they mixed me up with my cousin (who is still a gang banger)." He then tried to assure me that if something did go wrong, they would have beat him up and left me alone. I don't believe it. Either way, he is a fan of kaskade. I think I'm just going with him because I need the drama in my life.
Okay, now, what I wanted to ask you. In the opening minutes of following video clip, the guy in the brown shirt and hat keeps doing some kind of side to side foot slide while dancing.

Is what he is doing a form of loose legs?

yo man wat up.
maybe i can be of some help.
caleaf teachs some pretty basic foundation steps in this clip.
the first step he goes over is a stomp style. i think u
ts called the farmer.
the second step he goes over is a heel toe step.
the 3rd step is either the loose leg or chase. i still cant tell the difference between the two.

Watch those clips a few times, try it out. Then once you get the jist, forget it all. Go out to the spots where the locals session, watch them as much as you can, go home and practice what you saw and forget about everything you saw in the clips. Practice and practice, once you find your own groove then go back and watch some clips/ask for pointers from more experienced house dancers. They will both help you out with your timing and transitions, without robbing you of your own expression of your style.

as someone who is studying house, new to the game (in relative terms), but very much serious about this dance
i can say a couple things, TAKE IT SLOW.
you aren't going to get dope over night. when you think you're at home doin some steps, just because you didn't learn them from somebody, doesn't make them purely original. and just because you took a class from somebody doesn't make you a biter either.
chances are the steps that you are learning/doing or thought you came up with on your own, has already been done!!
so does this mean that the dance isn't being re-invented and new shit isn't happening? HELL NO. it means that real shit comes with time. you aren't going to bring anything new to the game overnight, much less find your own steez.
learn everything you can, be open minded!! take ballet classes, take jazz, tap!! salsa!! african!! believe it or not all that will help with your house dance.
some people like to hate on foundation, saying that you will dance exactly like everyone else studying foundation, wrong!!!
yo mang we all took english classes but we talk differently, word. learn what has been done before you, and master it, then move on, only then will you know what you are bringing to the table.
