Just incase some ppl in SD dont know who JR Boogaloo is, but curious about how he dances, here are some clips of him getting down. He is one of the best well rounded dancer in my opinion. From Poppin, Tutting, Waving, Snaking, Robot, Strutting, Gliding, House, Hiphop, Boogaloo, etc

Lockin' in SD is pretty rare... You'd probably have to find it through CSSD (Culture Shock San Diego...) They usually have us come down there to teach it (CSLA), since we're the only Culture Shock troupe that has lockers...

Good luck, though... let me know if you find anything...

I'm planning a trip to SD sometime soon and will try to check y'all out for sure!

Besides fine ladies everywhere, nice weather and scenery, surfing, beaches, shows, decent emplyment opps, and relatively affordable housing for So Cal...

Would you guys say that studying/being exposed to funk styles and venues to dance out are another significant reason for me to move to SD from this desert wasteland of NM where I currently live? Or can you think of a much better place? Sorry for jacking the thread, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to address multiple SD dancers at once here.

Boogiewalker
08-15-2007, 01:04 PM
Honestly, and with apologies to the SD peeps on this board...

The only place that's "better" than SD for Funkstyles dancing (all kinds of popping and locking styles too) is LA. I say this just because I can really only think of a hand-full of poppers from SD and only like one locker...

SD in general has a pretty big bboy scene, but for funkstyles, it's tiny. That said, the poppers in SD are hella cool and pretty dope...

I guess SD is pretty close to LA--much closer than NM at any rate...

thanks boogie. that's what i assumed, i just had a better experience in SD than LA, but that could have just been those times.

What's up everyone...

my family just bought a house in La Jolla, so i'm here for part of the year.

I mean, this thread looks sort of old, but i'll be here for the next few weeks, and i'd love to get some practice in.

Is everything mentioned earlier in the thread still going on? Anyone care to fill me in if anything's been changed?

Thanks a lot,

limz

where the hell are kids cyphering these days... there has been 3 times when I went to a club and there has been anyone out besides me... WTF!

those three places were: Landlord Jim's (now closed down), Friday Night at the Red C Lounge, and Planet of the Drums at Brick By Brick (special event).

The SD funkstyles scene has been disappointing...

The SD i remember was down to party and rep their shit every night of the week...

I noticed a bunch of people posted and got frustrated since they didn't get a reply. Just send a PM to Dnoi, Robotron, Vinh, or myself. We're probably the most active San Diegans on the site... we just don't check the thread often.

Yo,
It's been like two+ years since I've logged into these forums. I feel inspired and would like to start popping and dancing once again. I live in Rancho Bernardo(blah) in San Diego. It would be nice to have some sessions once again. Would anybody like to get down? ;)
