So my cousin wants to build his own pc.

He came to me and asked me to du et for him.

We're going to go piece by piece onnit and shit.

I'm starting with the case. Where can I get a custom case?

I want a Homer Simpsons one.

Also, what size power supply should I get.

On some of the Apevia cases I peeped they had 420watt cases?

is that teh gud wun?

do i need a 800watt psu?

also, what motherboard?

what graffix card?

i think he wants to keep his current pimpish monitor.

mostly he's going to use this as a family photo station... scanning in old pics, printing out photos, and doing video editing

he doesn't want a mac

he likes how the pc is all customizable all mean

so the dvd lightscribe burners are super cheap

maybe when the price drops later blu ray

but for now, what case place would you suggest as a source?

i like these cases personally

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=acrylic+case

its clear, you can see all the high end components in it and you can have a graphic artist airbrush homer simpson on the side.

this memory is ill

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145039

it has a programmable LED message. so you can flash messages on the memory. i think there are like 100 characters in the entire string.

enough to bust "Damm I want u, i want u, but i really like her!"

as far as mobos, asus makes pimp boards.

i used to order those all the time.

it really depends on the mobo/vga/cpu combo.

the mobo will dictate what you can and cant use.

so, what ever combo you go, defenitely go pci e and have your cpu/vga in mind.

as far as a psu, the vga/cpu will have specifications on the minimum requirements.

i have a friend who is running sli and he uses around a 500 watt psu.

so it really depends on the overall components. the more components the more power. 800watt is a grip[.

i wouldnt do that unles sim runnning a quad core, dual sli, with like 4gigs of mem. 5 fans, LEDs, etc.

you dont want to fry the mobo.

asus mobos are usually the ones i get..

i say wait until later this year until the new AM3 mobos come out, and when the new amd quad core processors come out, to destroy stupid intel duo core. :D

but if your cousin cant wait. right now you can get about 800 - 1000 with these specs for some decent gaming.

you dont need 800 watt psu unless your going to get the geforece 8800gtx vid card..

-but you can just get a 430 - 500 psu..i suggest either any thermaltake or antec, or enermax. = should be around 100$

-video card = geforce 7800gt or geforce7950gt. - 150 - 250$ (but i dont think your cousin will have to worry since hes not even using this computer to game)

1 or 2 gig ram = 100 - 200$

asus mobo = 100 - 200$ depending on which kind you get. (i suggest getting the one with AM2 socket).

-amd athlon x2 3800 processor = can go for 90 bucks..but the amd athlon x2 6000 is only 220 bucks with better performance. your choice. both are still good. (remember it has to be am2 socket to fit into mobo)

there are a shit load of cases you can look at here
www.xoxide.com or you can browse forums to see other cases http://www.xoxideforums.com/

that site has more cases than any other site i been on, however i havent seen a simpsons one.

If you want a simpsons one, i suggest your cousin learning how to draw/spray paint or hire someone to do that art on his case. because people who are hardcore into customizing, create their own case from scratch o_0
