What's creative about that?
Just asking what do you see in that. Out of curiosity. Because I don't see in this choreography anything that could blow my mind. The scene is good. The movie in the background is good. But the dance? Usually there is a good story in contemporary or art dances, there is a concept, an idea, food for your mind and soul. I tried to understand the story, but couldn't. Maybe there is no story? Only popping moves? So what's so good about only popping moves, I ask you? What's creative about that? Peace, NRG |

thank you acold...perfectly explained.
Its a person waking up...his ego is portrayed behind him...he is taking a big walk in life...and after reaching a certain point he has to look back...into the mirror...he sees himself or his second Id. Thats the main idea.Trying to find out what you are. Its not that creative lol i agree. It Has been done a thousand times before and will be done a thousand times after cuz thats what ppl ask themselves 20.000 years. We just perform our perspective on a person trying to reflect himself and the following conflict(reflexion). Dancewise i agree that its not that creative either (at least its not that much shown in the video.) But i have sold it and want to continue to sell it in theatre and not give it away on youtube. So i hope you guys apologize us, if we dont want to show the hole script, scenography and every set in an online web 2.0 videostream. So white flashes in a video stand for timejumps. I just thought i exchange it with you guys...and look for critique. So thank you guys...and nrg critique taken...Thx |

mio and robozee -actually you guys made me wanna get into this fascinating
dance at first -and i guess i‘m not the only one. so, always nice to see you dancing! @NRG are you serious..? i‘m not a dickrider or anything lol..but i do have much respect for mio and robozee creating this performance and bringing it up on stage! i had the chance to watch parts of the choreography live -and i just have to admit that you can‘t compare being in the audience and feeling the atmosphere/energy to watching a youtube clip. however, interesting concept! thx for explaining it!! i especially like the ‚aphex twin‘ part. those video installations and CGI of the video are cool as well -although a bit creepy (reminds me a bit of japanese horror movie nice to see that there IS actually a ‚dance-theatre-scene‘ in germany, hope to watch the whole show someday! just like fresh said -keep on doin‘ it!! pce, L. |

Hey Mio. Ok, so you said there's a story, and said it is not that creative. No worries, man. If things are like that, good job at selling it anyway. You could do a marketer job if things will get tough as an artist or with computers. lol. I hope your next installments will be a lot better, though. I was only dissapointed with seeing popping move after popping move. So if it is art after all, just try to be more free...
Hey Lili. Yeah, I am serious. I respect them as well, girl, only love here. They wanted critique, though... And people usually remember not quick remarks like 'Nice' etc lol, but something more elaborate, like your longer post for example. So what did you see them do creatively? Waves, tuts, robot moves, eh? What did you see? Cool popping moves. Did only popping moves make you fascinated? If popping moves would have fascinated me, I would rather went to Juste Debout to see cool and much better popping routines which are done to a spontaneous music, not pre-practised. So what makes you fascinated? Nice point about 'can't compare to being in the audience' anyway, but noone compares. Noone says being here at our homes or wherever at works is the same as being in the audience. Of course, it is not the same. Do we see different dancing, however? So you liked the feeling? And what is feeling then? What is atmosphere? Who creates it? Who feels it? Who decides if the atmosphere is good? I am at home right now, and it is pretty dark here. Some jazz music playing in the background. I am chilling and enjoying the improvisational saxophone sounds. Do I feel the atmosphere? Oh yes. You know, the actual jazz band is not in my room. However, jazz music creates the atmosphere for me. As the actual dancers in the clips are not in my room. Did their popping moves create the atmosphere? Was there any atmosphere? Ahh, art provokes so many questions, NRG |

Yo Fresh thank you brother...we try to keep on with that shit...and lets see where it leeds us...and all of us
Yo lilli thank you so much ya support means a lot to us...Really thanks Yo Nrg... thank you for ya critique again...you are a very honest and provokative person and i really appreciate it...Cause thats what i need in order to grow...i dont need ppl telling me "PERFECT" when in fact i suck...so i think i can grow maybe from ya point of view and i really would love to exchange it with you...but please... im not the greatest popper on earth and i dont need to be treated like a lil girl but dont talk to me like that after judging an extract - promotional clip. that doesnt help anyone...i want to grow and maybe you can help me. i was just reading ya post. and please let me rewind what you said and then let me translate how that sounds to me. "So if it is art after all, just try to be more free..." that was the only comment that was really constructive. You are absolutly right. It is a big problem. I am a very technical person and i want to tell stories with dance. So sometimes my view on dance from a technical point of view limits me a lot. So yeah you are right i definitly have to be way more free. Thank you for that one. "it is not that creative. No worries, man. If things are like that, good job at selling it anyway. You could do a marketer job if things will get tough as an artist or with computers. lol." that sounds to me like im an marketing idiot trying to sell bullshit to ppl having no clue. i dont know how you want to help me with that comment but i feel like it wasnt written in order to HELP " hope your next installments will be a lot better" that sounds to me like a guy judging a hole theatre piece by its promotional videoclip. It is not good enough for him. And he hopes that i will find a way to be good enough for him. Why? I had to do a discision in life. I love popping so much that i want to make living from it. I dont want to work from 9 -5 on a computer. I want to do what i love. So yeah of course in order to pay my rent i have to sell my theatre pieces.shame on me... So after all i have to summarize what you just said. After writing concepts, scripts and performing dozents of theatre pieces all across europe. I have had thousands of critiques. Storm, Pina bausch, of course the press and so on...but never in my artistic life i had someone saying things like you...talking down on me like i want to mislead ppl with the things i love and try to create. A lot of ppl didnt like what i do...some like it lol . But never before i heard someone trying to make me look like an artistic marketing idiot. I had a discussion with jrock when i thought he tried to make me look like an internet popper, having no clue .But even that dude never talked so disrespectful to me like you just did in one post (maybe without knowing so). So summarizing that critique you just gave me i have two possible points: a) you are way beyong pina bausch on an intellectual point of view...and i have to learn from you b) you just try to provoke sitting at home laughingn about ppl that try to make a living out of what they love. Now what are ya intentions. As i alread stated please help me. I like ya point of view. But help me as a friend if it is possible for you. Support if you think its good...and tell me when i suck...What is it that you saw in that promotional clip that make you think that you can add really constructive Help. That isnt a rhetorical question. I really want to know. but always remember this is the internet and you can be easily misunderstood in ya intentions. so please LETS GO, HELP ME!!!...AND LETS TRY TO GROW POSITIVE FROM EACH OTHER Peace Prince mio Last edited by Prince Mio; 11-26-2009 at 05:51 PM. |

Heya Mio.
Daddy Kev here. I think maybe u should have put a few comments explaining the clip and contents when u posted the link. Then it limits the nit pickers who have no clue what they are looking at or what dance theatre is. Even without understanding what is going on I still feel 'as theatre' that there are some interesting concepts in the clip. The use of video; the unusual music; the arm linking stuff, the somewhat 'dark' theme. In a critical vein, I'd say the clip was kind of 'slow', which may or may not be a reflection of the piece. If ure trying to sell a show, especially in the bubble gum age, I'd suggest putting a few of the more energetic parts in a promo clip. Just my thoughts. Haha Daddy Kev so good to read you critiquing...how is it going? so bad i couldnt go to boty hopefully next time.
Thank you for ya points. 1)I see that with comment...maybe we should think about writing comments or quotes even directly on the youtube video. Guess that would help a lot. 2) Thanks for considering it as sth. interesting. Really appreciate it comin from ya 3)You are absolutly right about the clip beeing to slow. But this is the main problem in dance theatre scene and promotion. . If you wanna go to galas or "special streetdance Events" then those clips cant be flashy enough. They wanna see you doin all that stuff that they love to see from those young artists from the ghetto. lol. Thats the way they try to promote their event and sell seats. But right now i feel tired from those events beeing exposed like the robot-clown.lol If you wanna produce ya own theatre pieces, then imho then those clips cant be slow enough from my point of view... Not always as a Hiphop artist but as a dance artist in general and in a contemporary environment i sometimes felt that less is better. When ever i read "bad"-theatre critiques of our pieces they are like "uuh they dance to much" - "Art is not battle...what do they try to prove" - "i dont care if they are good - i feel nothing". Hahaha all that stuff. So i guess that is the reason why the hole piece and the clip is a lil slower. We just try to get away from "hiphop-meets-classic" events and produce on our own a lil bigger pieces. Im not saying those events suck- its just that it doesnt make sense to only wait for those opportunities. I hope you understood what i was trying to say. Hit me back if you have further advices fo me . Peace p.s.: yo NRG check kevins post giving structured and helpfull critique. If you truelly wanna hurt an artist and make him think then do it like him. He just slapped me while beeing so british nice. hahahahahhaha 1) one hello 2) one general advice 3 a) one lil positive thing 3 b) one big negative thing 4) and a humble "just my thought" hhahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahha Last edited by Prince Mio; 11-27-2009 at 04:59 AM. |

Yeah I took notes. Noone wants to hurt you, though.
I don't know why u got so mad. Because that is what you said that made me want to say what I said: "But i have sold it and want to continue to sell it in theatre and not give it away on youtube. " and in the second mad post you just repeated it: "I love popping so much that i want to make living from it. I dont want to work from 9 -5 on a computer. I want to do what i love. So yeah of course in order to pay my rent i have to sell my theatre pieces." So yeah of course, good job on a good salesman job. NRG |

Now i understand the misconception...that leaded to madness...
It was me saying i sell...lol what i mean with that is that i sell sth to the audience in case of performing. Of course i dort sell my pieces...im an artist -the salesman job is done by someone else...guess who...a salesman So me saying i sell may lead to misconceptions... And in return i think that you saying to an artist "Good salesman job selling a non creative piece" can Also lead to further misconceptions. Lol Peace bro |
