Remember, this is the truth from their perspective. Before people jump on blastin off about how their history is 'not correct' , take a step back and realize that there are a lot of unfilled voids in this history. Feel free to voice your opinion or add your history, but please don't start disrespecting. Tinylove is the truth as is Code Red!

Thanks for posting this, everyone interested in Finger Boxes, Finger Tutting, Fixed lines, or Digitz should watch this.

Pce everyone!

Hey Invent thanks for posting this. The Liquid & Digitz community has always felt its art forms have had a unique history behind them (versus waving, popping, etc). Tiny and Red's explanation here give an accurate view of how these dances came to be. Shiftedshapes can also elaborate a lot more beyond what is stated in those videos.

My old crew LPC has always felt that the foundational technique of Digitz has influenced much of what is used in todays popping scene known as 'Finger Tutting.' Here is the crews Digit foundation breakdown from their video in 2001.

It's refreshing to see someone like Wigs, someone who has seen EVERYTHING, agree with our feelings.

I started finger tutting in 1999. Not digits. Tony flow from tiny crew came to my house in 01 and seen me doing it and told me nobody wAs doing boxed shApes out there. He showed me digits which I hAve not seen before that. But I'm sorry but finger shapes are westcoast. Even mr re has a half hand tut he has had for awhile I'm sure even longer. Y'all can claim digits but finger tuts fuck noooo.there is footage of me in 00 doing finger/thumb tuts at Dennys after a jam with motion sickness boomers flat top. They never seen finger boxes before that. Not digits though that's different. They may be the first over there but it has shit to do with me.I just watched video of digits not 1 of them is tutting.
Even jigsaw was doing digit type stuff in the 90s and finger waves bopnron doing it in 92
But this mYbe truth for eastcoast but reflects nothing on westcoast of my generation

......maybe it should be titled...

modern history of digits and finger tuts.........

i appeciate the art...and its dope..and wont disagree with their history on how they see it...

on that note....
there were lots of old school poppers that use finger techiques in their poppin.....

ive been doin 3d/strobing digits for 20 yrs.......formin the ball(miming) with ...animated movements..ect

but i will say....it has taken a life of its own...and has...formed into its unique style with todays...dance scene.....& finger tuts.......aswell....

like liquid.......out here(westcoast)...it was called follow the leader waves....and was done by a lot of westcoast hiphop dancers(84- on)...becuase our base has always layed in poppin n lockin...

but the kats in the mid 90's call it liquid....and made their own set of..."rules"

so...i wanted just to add that....im not taking anything away...they obviously inspired alot of kats to push that from a couple moves..to its own art..&..in to the future.....

peace

But these were just one off tricks or blowups right? Like in Bop n' ron footage he'll do that fingerwave then just go out of it. It's just the one wave.

I think the first person to ever do a whole dancing hand set on camera would be Greg Irwin.

Here he is in 1988

Rick when I was out there in '02 and I showed Tetris the finger tuts that I knew from D strange he said that he had never seen them before. I was hanging out with you a lot that trip, but admittedly I showed Tetris, not you.
So if there is footage of you doing it earlier please post it.

As far as liquid I dunno any of that history .. I do know one thing.. I never was influenced by any liquid or digits .I saw Tetris do the first finger box in 02 or 03 from big tuts to small box which blew people away...n bionic man doing the L shape finger tuts in 03 or 02. I turned those dope boxes into a style n created alot of patterns that I've never seen before me n was freestyleing shapes n patterns before anyone in the scene. Give credit to those who deserve it. Finger tuts is from the west coast. N dont try to people of there part in this history .. I heard later that jigsaw was also doing finger boxes as well as konfusion.. heard from tabo. Ill post more later..

Lol shifted u showed finger fitness Greg Irwin shit n digits no finger tuts. Stop claiming lies when u came here. That's all u showed not once did u show me or tetras actual finger tuts. If I knew who had the footage of me at Dennys I'd post it. Popzilla, legend, jr boog, popntodd seen me doing finger and thumb boxed shapes.

Shifted get your story straight digits n finger fitness don't look like any boxed shape n u wasn't doing it when u came here.

Get tetris to say we wasn't doing it before u came here? Nobody will co sign that garbage.

Without me + Tetris + jsmooth 99% wouldn't be making finger tuts a style

Show me footage of actual finger tuts before that time I'll shut up

I didnt turn it to a style though it was just a stupid thing to do for fun.

Tetris also just did a few random ones for blow ups

After that jsmooth OCD on fingers n over did it n after he did it n all over the world everyone was trying to do it n now it's a style. Which to me is retarded u can't really see it unless up close.

I'm just saying the influence came from me n Tetris for finger tut shapes. From thumb tuts to index finger combos to flowerbox blow ups to. If it wasn't for us
J smooth wouldn't have got OCD on it n it wouldn't be so big as it is today

People need to work more on tutting and moving around with the whole body than fingers though

Anything that can bend on your body should be practiced into a tut if u are into the style

Let's just have a west vs east battle instead. We have our history and they have theirs. This thread will go no where and I'm sure we won't agree

I'm not responding to the thread so if u need me pm me or find some way of hitting me up. I just came to say my history not debate about it

Our good buddy Jigsaw can be thanked for modern finger tuts ....he got finger tuts from training with Mr Re who did some basic finger tuts....Jigsaw pretty much made it his entire style, later inspired Tetris, JSmooth learned from Tetris, and so on. JSmooth reached the most exposure and perfected the style.

Ive danced with LPC back in 2000, 2001.....they didnt do finger tut boxes. At all. Dementia was known for Tutting, he was Tutting OBSESSED! Dementia is also ABM so I know him well. Dementia was good friends with LPC. If LPC was finger Tutting Dementia would have done Finger Tuts too....but it wasnt on the East Coast at that time. Everything was more wavey and flows, with isolations, but not tut logic.

I was here in LA when finger tutting was becoming the new craze. Jigsaw was known for it at the clubs and raves its pretty much all he did in circles, Tetris was known for it in circles at raves as well and got it even cleaner than Jigsaw, more illusional...but after Jigsaw, Tertis was also bringing it around the homeland crowd. Jigsaw stayed more on the underground tip at clubs and after hours spots.

Just my two cents. Mr Re seems to be the original source when I asked Jigsaw.

Bear in mind this is the historical perspective of Tiny and Red. I don't think anyone is disputing the West Coast has its own history towards finger movement, in fact, please interview those involved and post!

Just to clarify JRock's comment - DStrange of LPC WAS doing boxes in 2000, 2001. He was doing boxes, triangles, and other shapes... very geometric for its time.
