Members of An Garda Siochana say they “took on” the battle-dance video challenge thrown at them by Swiss police late last year.
Dressed in their full Garda gear, the force members showed off their well-choreographed movements in a new video posted to social media.
The video responds to a challenge launched by the Swiss police in December 2020, when they posted a video of their officers dancing in the snow.
We have stepped up the Swiss police @fedpolCH #JerusalemaChallenge. Gardaí across Ireland has answered the call to give a boost to the public we serve in these difficult times. #To stay together #homeStaySafe pic.twitter.com/sbLdkk54hB

Gardai duly accepted the challenge, and after much practice and preparation, they released their efforts for the world to see.
They performed their dance, to Master KG’s song “Jerusalem” with Nomcebo, on rooftops, along coasts, in fields and at Garda stations across the country.
They even managed to slip some obligatory Irish dances into their choreography, which made the Swiss effort explode.
The force wrote online alongside the video: “We have stepped up Swiss police @fedpol #JerusalemaChallenge. Gardaí across Ireland has answered the call to give a boost to the public we serve in these difficult times. #GardaJerusalema #StayhomeStaySafe.
“Now that An Garda Síochána has taken up the challenge, the audience now has the floor of Homme dansant and Femme dansant.
“So make sure you stay home and in your bubbles. Post your challenge using #GardaJerusalema, we want to see what you can do and stay safe. ‘
