ZDC excels at the Turn It Up Dance Challenge

The Ziegler Dance Center’s Z Dance Troupe recently participated in the Turn It Up Dance Challenge in East Rutherford, NJ

The troupe is made up of 81 dancers, aged 5 to 18. They competed in all genres including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, musical theater and acrobatics.

ZDC received the Studio “Pure Passion” award. This award is given to a studio whose dedication and devotion to dance shines through on stage as well as behind the scenes.

Mini Novice Division

● Ballet Small Group — “It’s A Small World” won third place overall.

● Press small group – “Everyone wants to be a cat” won second place overall.

● Hip Hop Large Group — “That’s Finesse” took first place overall.

Mini Intermediate Division

● Audrey Bertagno from Vernon won fifth place overall for her jazz solo “Wildside”.

Junior Intermediate Division

● Vernon’s Aubree Adamitis won eighth place overall for her lyric “Unbreakable”.

● Natalie Bello of Hardyston and Cavan Garrity of Franklin won fourth place overall for their tap dance “Me and My Shadow”.

● Hip Hop Large Group — “The Train is Moving” took first place overall.

Teen Intermediate Division

● Ogdensburg’s Arianna Rojas and Diego Rojas won second place overall for their “Mr. Pinstripe Suit” tap dance.

Senior Teen Advanced Division

● Franklin’s Makayla Snyder won fourth place for Miss Turn It Up for her lyric “Only Hope.”

● Lyrical Line – “Power of a Dream” won second place overall.

● Musical Theater — “Moulin Rouge” won second place overall and the IDC Choice Award.

● Senior teen soloist Kelsie Shinall of Vernon performed her lyrical solo “Lighthouse” and junior soloist Alondra Sybesma of Vernon performed her lyrical solo “Tiny Voice”. Both soloists won the “Heart of Gold” award, which is given to a soloist in each age category who the judges believe showed the most heart, soul and passion in their performance.
